Description: Suicide is one of the chronic illnesses which has been increasing in communities across the country, and numbers are expected to rise as the impact of COVID-19 is felt. Community health center leaders need to think about the role they play in their community to help suicide prevention efforts and to communicate that suicides are preventable. Health center leaders need to consider strong clinical pathways to care for patients at risk, support for employees, and human resources to address suicide risk among staff as suicide among healthcare providers is a rising problem. Participants will learn about the prevalence of suicide and ways their health center can be proactive in creating a system that supports patients and team members who are at risk for suicide.

Speaker: Virna Little, PSyD, LCSW-r, SAP, CCM, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Concert Health, Director of the Center for Innovation in Mental Health at the CUNY School of Public Health in New York, and Co-Founder of Zero Overdose
