WAVERLY — On February 7 and February 15, the Valley View Health Centers will be holding enrollment events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at their Waverly location to help those in the community who are still without insurance.
Four federally-trained Navigators, funded through the Ohio Association of Food Banks and the Health Resources & Services Association, will be available to offer guidance. The Navigators offer no-cost assistance to the community in navigating the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This includes answering questions, facilitating the application process, determining financial assistance on the marketplace and helping individuals enroll in a Qualified Health Plan or Medicaid. Navigators can also assist in completing exemption applications.
February 15 will be the last day to get health coverage through the Marketplace without a special enrollment period. Not doing so before this date may lead to a penalty. The amount of the penalty for 2015 is the larger of $325 or 2 percent of household income over the tax filing threshold.
Josh Newland, a Navigator at the Waverly location, warns that waiting until the last minute may not be a good idea.
“Most consumers take at least two appointments when deciding which coverage is best for them,” Newland stated. “Being rushed may cause them to make a decision that they may regret later.”
Appointments will have priority, but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment for enrollment assistance or if you have questions regarding the Affordable Care Act, you can contact Navigators at Valley View Health Centers in Waverly at 740-947-7726, #7719.
