MVHC NAMES DR. GERALD TIBERIO 2015 CHUCK HUNTER MISSION AWARD WINNER

Zanesville, Ohio – June 10, 2015 – MVHC, an elite, comprehensive primary-care
facility currently serving Muskingum, Morgan and Coshocton counties, recently
recognized esteemed pediatrician Dr. Gerald Tiberio as the 2015 Chuck Hunter Mission Award winner. The 40-year industry veteran received the honor at the organization’s annual provider recognition dinner.

A founding member of MVHC, Dr. Tiberio has dedicated his professional life to both
pediatrics and to providing quality care to the underserved population in

Southeastern Ohio. A graduate of the St. Louis School of Medicine in 1974, he completed a two-year residency at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo (New York) in

1977 prior to joining what is now the Genesis HealthCare System that same year. Following Genesis, Dr. Tiberio was part of the group that founded MVHC in 2008,

acting as the organization’s first chief medical officer.

Further solidifying his dedication to pediatrics, Dr. Tiberio was one of the major

national participants in the Pediatric Asthma Initiative, helping to develop standards for the  MVHC Dr. Tiberio Announcement treatment of the disease in the United States. He was also named “Outstanding Pediatrician” by the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2013 and is an officer for the group’s national organization. Additionally, Dr. Tiberio played a major role in securing the grant for MVHC’s Legacy for Children™ program, a national initiative that empowers mothers by promoting a supportive community while guiding them to make positive decisions for their families. MVHC is the only healthcare organization in Ohio certified to deliver the program.

The Chuck Hunter Mission Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving the patient population of MVHC. Chuck Hunter was the visionary behind the development of the organization and worked tirelessly to create a health center to provide quality, affordable, accessible primary care to every community MVHC serves. Although Mr. Hunter passed away just days before MVHC opened, his legacy lives on through the tireless efforts of the many providers and employees who carry out his mission each day.

“As a passionate, dedicated, and accomplished provider to this area for more than 40 years, Dr. Tiberio exemplifies everything this award represents,” said Dr. David Klein, chief medical officer and founding member of MVHC. “He is the perfect ambassador to execute and expand Chuck’s vision to help heal each community this organization serve through exceptional, accessible, affordable care.”

Founded in 2008, MVHC serves nearly 30,000 patients annually and is one of the
largest health centers in Ohio. In 2014 there were over 91,000 patient visits to the
organization’s three locations.
