First cases of Zika reported in Mahoning County

"YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - According to the Mahoning County Board of Health, two Mahoning County residents have tested positive for the Zika virus.

The individuals, the BoH says, have recently traveled in countries where the virus is prevalent. 

Thursday's reports bring the number of Zika cases in Ohio to 18. 

The Zika virus is spread primarily by bites from infected mosquitoes.  According to the CDC, the virus can also be sexually transmitted.

Although the species of infected mosquito is found in the tropics and southern United States, none of the 822 known American cases have been contracted from U.S. mosquitoes..."
