Heroin epidemic increasing need for foster, adoptive parents

"AKRON — With November being celebrated as National Adoption Month, Summit County Children Services (SCCS) is focusing on the increasing need for foster parents and those willing to adopt.


"According to Amy Davidson, deputy executive director of social services for the agency, there are currently 725 children in SCCS’s care, which is about 125 more than one year ago at this time. Davidson added the increase in the number of children in the agency’s custody’s is related to the recent opiate epidemic..."
